Premiered on the 27th of May 2017 at Festival ESML no São Luiz 2017 in Sala Luís Miguel Sintra at Municipal Theatre São Luiz, Portugal by ESML Symphony Orchestra - Conducted by Vasco Pearce de Azevedo

Programme notes: This work is based on the concept of our own DNA and its intrinsic behaviour. The constant multiplication and division of tiny cells are what makes our body move. Moreover, I didn't want to write another piece for an orchestra in which I knew the experience I was going to have due to the standard disposition of instruments on stage.
That said, the very initial idea of the behaviour of cells also lead me to arrange this disposition differently from what we are used to seeing and hearing in order to give a rather different experience to the audience and better portray the concept in mind. The very natural division of cells leads to the division of the orchestra in itself. DNA is what runs through our veins, it is our real "time". Similarly, to the final ‘tick’ of a clock hand, the last division is our last breath.

Written in 2015 as part of the composition portfolio of my second year (2º) of undergraduate at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa in Portugal.

Notas de programa: O que me inspirou para a escrita desta obra foi o nosso próprio ADN e a sua constante multiplicação e divisão.
Não queria escrever mais uma obra para orquestra em que sabia a experiência que ia ter mesmo antes do concerto começar;
trompas do lado esquerdo; madeiras ao centro; etc.
Dito isto, procurei que o conceito (ADN) me levasse também a ""escrever"" a própria disposição dos instrumentos de modo a poder dar a máxima experiência de um concerto ao público e melhor retratar o que eu queria ouvir. A própria divisão natural do ADN leva à divisão da própria orquestra a cada segundo que passa...
O ADN é o que nos corre nas veias, é o nosso "tempo" de verdade, a sua última divisão é como se fosse o último batimento de um ponteiro de relógio.
Nós somos um, relógio ou ADN são dois nomes para um só - Eu...
