    I've amassed three guitar transcriptions of this work - one free off the internet, the Emilio Pujol transcription in Editions Max Eschig, and this one. The free one I swiftly discounted - in 6 sharps, it was unplayable. This one, in normal guitar tuning, is in A (3 sharps) and sets...

    off in 5th position. Clear large typeface, detailed fingering and lots of dynamics, it covers 5 pages. A modern, guitaristic transcription. The Pujol version is in F# tuning, in E (4 sharps) with one variation per line. Smaller typeface, it fits onto 4 pages. Lots of ringing open strings, starting off in 1st position. Absolute minimum of fingering, no dynamics. Looking at various performances on both lute and vihuela on the internet, I have to say this one seems closest to the spirit of the original. So - you take your choice. Modern, detailed editing, or a simple transcription in authentic tuning. I found the Barbosa-Lima informative for its dynamics, but in the end I plumped for the Pujo
