Like hardly any other musical instrument, the harmonica enjoys great popularity among young and old: it is relatively easy to learn, easy to transpose and cheap to buy. It is used in individual music making, in numerous folk styles, in rock and pop music, especially in the blues. Our small playing instructions are intended to impart basic knowledge about the instrument and elementary music theory, to lead to the correct BJas technique and posture, to gradually open up the entire tonal range. As study material, short methodical exercises have been used only in the initial stages; well-known songs that one "has in one's ear" predominate. Independent practice of other melodies in the respective tonal range is recommended. The basis for these playing instructions is the widely used diatonic harmonica with ten air channels, i.e. with 20 notes. However, it is also possible to practice with smaller or larger instruments. Also the basic tuning can be disregarded at first, only then the pitches and note names change of course. Our edition is based on the C major tuning.
