Woodwind Quintet - Advanced - Digital Download

SKU: H0.355955-60463

By Stephen Schwartz. Arranged by Robert Newth. Score,Set of Parts. 26 pages. Published by Robert Newth (H0.355955-60463).

Stephen Schwartz's musical Wicked took Broadway by storm in 2003 and ever since then it has become one of the most popular shows of all time, no doubt thanks to its spectacular score and songs, of which Defying Gravity is certainly the centrepiece and most well-known! This arrangement for woodwind quintet captures the spirit of the original song, starting as it does in the Official Cast Recording with the argument before soaring into the main song.

This is a challenging arrangement for any quintet to put together, with many time changes and rubato sections. It can be shortened by starting from letter C if required, and if an even shorter cut is needed, all the choruses are in the same key so any of the verses can be omitted. I have written it so the flute requires a low B extension, although with some shifting of octaves, this is avoidable.

The PDF download includes a full score, and parts for Flute, Oboe, Clarinet in A, French Horn, and Bassoon.
