Days of wine and roses is a popular song for the 1962 motionpicture “Days of wine and roses.” The music was composed by Henry Mancini andthe lyrics by Jonny Mercer and received an Academy Award for Best Original Songfor their work. The song is composed of two sentences, one for each verse.

The phrase "days of wine and roses" is originally from the poem"Vitae Summa Brevis" by the English writer Ernest Dowson(1867--1900): They are not long, the days of wine and roses: Out of a mistydream our path emerges for a while, then closes Within a dream.
