Great practice tool for everybody who loves jazz. Two versions of each tune gives you an opportunity to hear unfamiliar tunes first, or just comp to the soloist. Hereafter you are on your own on the next version. And the band swings great.

Overall, I was very pleased with this product. The play-a-long disc with tracks including the soloist was very helpful. I thought a little more attention could have been given to the arrangement of "One O'Clock Jump", but overall I understand the difficulty of arranging this standard big...

band number for a small group. I had never heard "Blues in Hoss Flat" before and found it to be a very groovy piece. I especially liked the arrangements of "Cute" and "Moten Swing". I earlier had an arrangement of "Moten Swing" from a different source and found the Hal Leonard version to be a bit better.

Being a musician that is attempting to rejuvenate whatever talent I had on the tenor sax, I have found this book of Basie classics with a CD backup group absolutely superb.
