I do not recomend purchasing sheet music from this site. Our purchase came in the wrong octave with small print at the bottom saying to play 1 octave higher!

Traditionalist eggheads may think this score is wonderful. And, yes I CAN transpose, and furthermore, I am NOT a novice! So, let's get things straight...if you pay good money for a professional score, I expect it should be written in the octave for which it is to be...

    played!

  • 2007-05-08 00:00:00.0 THE concerto for double bass

Bottesini's Concerto No. 2 is perhaps the most important solo double bass piece. This version is very good and International Music Company is very high quality. The only advice I would like to give is before buying, consider if you want to play it on an orchestrally-tuned bass...

or a solo-tuned bass. The piano part is in B minor and the bass part is in A minor. So when it comes time to play with a pianist, this could be a problem. There are editions with both parts in A minor available, so base your decision on that. Otherwise, the edition is great for at least learning the piece.

Well written. Novices watch out, the whole piece is written and octave lower than it is to be played. Doesn't sound to hard, but its tricky when you start working on it. Overall its great though!
