Seriously people, if your going to learn a great piece correctly, avoid any schirmer edition. The editor markings are usually incorrect and there is too many 'random' ritardados placed in the wrong places. There is even added notes in certain places. I bought this version thinking it would be a...

cheap alternative to a decent edition and was highly dissapointed. Save your money and buy the padereski edition if your seriously considering learning this piece. This is a wonderful piece, but with all the useless markings Mr. Mikuli puts in his scores make it awful. Not to mention the awkward fingering in many places. Mikuli was a student of chopin, I wouldn't trust him considering his other editions of schrimer's chopin collections.

This is one of the all time greatest piano concertos ever composed and I guarantee that you'll love every bit of it. It's very difficult to play and takes lots of practice and stamina, but it's definitely worth it.

If you want to play the first concerto, your best bet is with a Schirmer version. The orchestral composition is included, and the music is easy to read. This piece is a little challenging, but the format of it facilitates the learning process.
