As an advanced saxophonist, I feel this piece is a good challenge, combinng technical precision, lyricality, and several extended techniques (including altissimo). Having performed it, the concerto has been one of my favorite works and earns its spot as one of the defining pieces of saxophone literature. It begins with...

a moderate/fast section, transitioning to a slow section, then a moderate section, then a fast section that alternates between 12/8 and 4/4. I would recommend this concerto for any advanced saxophone player looking for a fun challenge.
