  • October 12, 2021 Dover's Chopin Mikuli editions are best

I have been pianoing (playing & practicing) piano over 70 years. I was fortunate to have Joseph Brinkman as a teacher at the U. of Michigan. He was very good atteaching a person to love music & assigned me difficult Chopin. I have several editions of most of Chopin's music & consider...

Mikuli the best. Mikuli's comments about Chopin indicate he was Chopin's student, had great respect for him, & that he was very precise. Other editions sometimes simplify, increase complexity, or use pedaling that makes no sense. Sometimes Chopin indicates broken cords with two different symbols to indicate rolling speed, & will put in an extra note or notes on a chord to suggest a slight decrease in tempo. The last comment is that Dover uses excellent paper that lasts a very long time.

  • March 23, 2009 Not the old Dover edition!

This edition is not the same editor (i.e. not the same fingerings) as the older Dover Paderewski edition. However, this edition is still very good. A tremendous value in that all of the Preludes and Etudes are in one book.

  • August 25, 2008 Great Version

These are some of the most beautiful piano pieces, and this version is such a great one to learn from or to have. It also has some fairly good fingerings as well.

  • September 24, 2007 Chopin Strikes Again!

The title doesn't lie; this is definitely a complete collection of some of Chopin's Preludes and Etudes in their true form. This is for upper intermediate to advanced pianists!!! NOT FOR BEGINNERS!!!

Well it is what is says. It's the complete list of Preludes and Etudes by Chopin. Some of the notation could be rearranged in a nicer fashion so it's easier to read. For example, the Revolutionary Study, Op. 10, no. 12 is sometimes confusing the way it's...

notated--the notes are all there, it's just that I've seen them arranged in a better fashion. But not a bad price for all the Etudes if you ask me!
