  • December 10, 2012 Tutor to knock your socks off.

Historically important book for the trumpet player. For those of you who know the Carnival of Venice by Arban - you will find it here. Being a intermediate level player (too old to get much better) there are many really good exercises (with explanatory text - though dated) which can help the...

trumpeter. Having used many tutors in the past this is better because of the way the exercises lead into others of greater difficulty (particularly with key signatures). It is very well divided into sections with different exercises which lead one into another (e.g. exercises to help with perfecting the turn). The text is really aimed at the very skilful trumpeter but don't be put off because there is something for everyone.

  • March 01, 2009 Every trumpet player needs this book!!!

This book is a total training guide for ANY trumpet player. It starts with the most basic foundation and progresses to advanced etudes. Read the author's intro and directions. But if you're into jazz you may chuckle at the comment about not playing above high C. (the author...

does make some good points, especially about extreme high notes being abused in high-schools and colleges before players have solid technique - but you'd be hard pressed to find a jazz trumpeter who doesn't break this "rule". If you're serious about playing trumpet then buy this book and get to work!

I had the Arban when I was learning in high school..and as an Adult I'm thinking about purchasing it again. From the exercises in the front to the solos in the back, with enough time you should be quite good.
