This is a great lesson for the beginner. By the time I got all the way through the book I was playing pretty good.

I really enjoy trying to play the music in this book. I am 68 years old, self taught and like to try different styles of music. I just wish that the cd had covered the more difficult pieces in the back of the book.

    Difficulty Level:
  • January 21, 2009 Great Introduction to Fingerstyle Guitar

This book will definitely "show" you how to properly play Fingerstyle guitar. As an instructional piece, it is lacking verbiage in that it introduces notes, chords, scales etc. as visuals with brief etudes followed by music that demonstrates. All of this is accomplished with gradual increased difficulty. The CD ends...

with Chopin's Prelude as if the remaining pieces were added to the book as an after-thought without adding them to the disk. Learn this book cover to cover and you should be able to work through most fingerstyle arrangements with some ease and understanding. New comers to guitar will struggle early but with some effort notice rapidly increased proficiency.
