This would probably be a good first bass book for anyone just starting out (with all the examples just happening to be blues!!) I think a beginner can really learn how the bass functions, especially within the blues by reading this book. The theory he presents is very clear and...

makes sense. He explains things very well. Not being advanced, I can't say how far down the road this would take someone, but there are 196 pages of musical examples with a minimum of explanation. After explaining something, he really gives a good sampling of variations and examples.
