"Originally written for piano, ""Colors of a New Day"" was a second round finalist in the state-wide ""Project XL"" arts competition in Indiana. The piece was also a finalist in the First Frank Ticheli Composition Contest in 2006. It was arranged for concert band in 2005 and first performed by the Madison Consolidated high School Concert Band in Madison, IN. ""Colors of a New Day"" was presented by Tim Holtan of the West Point Military Academy Band as part of the publication ""Teaching Music Through Performance"" at the 2008 Midwest Conference.".

About 2010 Midwest Clinic Performance Pieces

This title was performed at the 2010 Midwest Clinic, the largest band and choral educational conference in the United States. Over thirty performances are given each year by diverse ensembles of varying levels - elementary school, high school, college, military and more.     This is a beautiful and well written piece! It will really challenge your ensemble to watch and listen across the ensemble to successfully create beautiful phrasing throughout the piece. All parts are interesting including percussion. This is a truly perfect piece for middle school or even high school band.
