Christmas Day is a choral fantasy on old carols, was written in1910.  It was originally composed forSATB with parts for a sizeable orchestra. It lasts for about seven minutes. Thework was dedicated ‘To the music students of Morley College’. Apparently it wasextremely well-received and had a further presentation on 18 February at amusic students’ ‘Tea and Social’ event. A number of well-known carols are usedin this ‘fantasy.’ Throughout the piece, the composer makes use of ‘God restyou merry gentlemen,’ ‘The First Nowell’ and a traditional melody derived fromBrittany used to set the words ‘Come ye lofty; come ye lonely.’

The Duration is approx. 6.16minutes and the level is Advanced Intermediate.
