I had the wonderful privelege of playing this piece this summer along with many other Pershichetti pieces at Interlochen Arts Camp. Persichetti's music is so wonderful because of what every member learns about band music and musicality. The chord voicings and placements are challenging, so it adds pressure. Getting...

it to sound beautiful is not easy, but once it is done, nothing matches the sheer grace and elegance Persichetti incorporates into his music. The style of Persichetti is quite easy to pick out. He does a lot of the same things in the beginning like starting off slowly with a clarinet choir and mixing colors. Poly-chords are always evident in his music, just to show how much of a genius this man really was.
