Mingus was a genius. Musically, politically and, personally. As a bass player it is imperative that i understand what the songs are about and what inspired them, this book includes all of this information as well as the most accurate transcriptions i've seen of mingus' complex melodies and harmonies...

. A must for all Bass Players!!!!!

Mingus was a complete musician--bassist, pianist, composer, bandleader--and this book reflects his multi layered talents. I've never found transcriptions for quite a few of these tunes, like "what love," and the songs that you probably know (if you play jazz) are much more accurately transcribed here than...

    in the other fake books.
