Written for violinist Boris Kucharsky. Meant to be the North Carolina equivalent of Brahms' Hungarian Dances, this virtuoso work takes the form of theme (a sort of 'barn dance' fiddle tune) and variations (including ones in jig, waltz, march, ballad, R&B, jazz, bossa nova and reggae styles). The piece was premeried by Boris Kucharsky and Melissa Marse on February 20, 2005 at CAMI Hall in New York City.
