Canons, Songs and Blessings

By Helen Kemp

Composed by Helen Kemp. Score. Chorister's Guild #CGC27. Published by Chorister's Guild (CG.CGC27).

Item Number: CG.CGC27

This delightful compilation of 'Canons, Songs and Blessings' provides repertoire for singers of all ages. Appropriately designated as 'A Kemp Family Collection', many of the canons and songs in this publication have been favorites of The Kemp Family Carolers through the years. Both sacred and secular material are included, offering possibilities for use in a variety of settings, such as singing in homes, classrooms, church services, and choral concerts. Canons provide an excellent vehicle for encouraging vocal independence and teaching early part singing. It is important that singers learn the melodies well in unison before singing them in canon. This is a very nice collection of rounds and canons-the title is very accurate. There's not necessarily lots of variety, but there doesn't need to be if what you want is a collection of standard rounds and canons... :-) It's a great tool for teaching sightreading-a...

way to do it with simple, real music. A lot of them will also work well in performance: processionals, transitions, etc.
