Canon in D is the most famous piece of music by Johann Pachelbel, written in or around 1680 as a piece of chamber music for three violins and basso continuo. Dan Coates' faithful setting is for the intermediate pianist. Tasteful use of arpeggios, rolled chords, and dynamics brings out a rich, sonorous sound that evokes the original string arrangement. Perfect for weddings, recitals, or any other special occasion.

We've all herd this song before. I recommend the great arrangement, but it's not "easy piano." It'll give the intermediate player a run for the money.

I'm a piano teacher. I regularly have students who want to learn this song, and this version correlates nicely with Piano Adventures Level 3B - which ends with the Canon (in C). This is harder & longer than that version, so it presents a challenge, but it's not out of...

reach. It has fingering marked, which is GREAT for students, plus the chords labeled. And it sounds pretty; some Canon versions just aren't pretty on piano. I can basically sight-read this song, but the addition of the chords gives me options to fill in more if I want.

I taught myself how to play when I was 12 and played piano until I moved out of the house at age 18. Now, I acquired the piano I learned on after 39 years. I am re-learning to play again. It's like riding a bike - it's all...

coming back to me. This piece is easy, yet beautiful and well composed for the beginner and a joy to play!

Great arrangement.Playable by a beginner/intermediate pianist. I am an adult horn player, relearning piano, which I quit at age 10. I can almost play it, after some practice. My teacher sight read it for me with feeling and it was beautiful. Of course she is an advanced pianist...
