    I find this book to be the best starter for students that have raised their level between 3 and 4. It introduces the classics, meter and control of fingers.

    Excellent narrative introduction to each etude. Explains the importance of each etude. A parent of one of my students commented: "Mary is not getting much out of the etude group class. I want her to just do individual classes" (which deal with repertoire only). This parent comment is the reason...

    why I'm switching from Schirmer's Berens to Clarfield. Even though Shirmer's etudes have better darker larger print.
