  • September 15, 2008 Great Book, not for Beginners

I had originally bought this book for a beginner student after seeing the first two pages on this website. It looked about the right difficulty. However, when the book arrived, the rest of the songs were way beyond the student's level. So this book is deceivingly difficult. That being...

said, there is a great mix of information about boogie woogie as well as decent teaching tools about jazz playing. A great book for someone who can already play at an intermediate/advanced level.

  • June 22, 2008 Basic - You wont be raising eyebrows !

This book is very basic. To be honest i didn't find anything i didn't already know about boogie woogie. If you're a total beginner - know absolutely nothing about BW then u should get it. If you like your BW already have riffs etc.. you'll just find...

its stuff you already know - And the tunes aren't head-turning good ones.

  • February 21, 2006 Ok but not Jools Holland Standard!

After both reading and performing the exercises in this book, you get a basic understanding of the roots of Boogie Woogie but not at all proffesional playing!
