    This is actually a pretty good book. Chapters are divided into 3 levels - beginners thru intermediate so it's possible to work through each level separately. The CD covers mostly traditional and author-written "emulated style" music and examples of licks in the book. Also included is a intro to...

    early country musicians and suggested listening. The writer gets corny sometimes but it's OK. The material is present in chronological order from Jimmie Rodgers upto Vince Gill, Brent Mason and covers a variety of styles. Focus is more on earlier artist though. Reference guides (scales, etc.) are also a big plus here. This will keep you busy for a long while.
