String Quartet String Quartet - Level 4 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.510255

Composed by Dorothy Heyward, Du Bose Heyward, George Gershwin, and Ira Gershwin. Arranged by Alex Phillips-Yates. Broadway,Jazz,Musical/Show,Opera. Score and parts. 15 pages. North Node Music #3493491. Published by North Node Music (A0.510255).

This arrangement of this beautiful duet from Gershwin's opera "Porgy and Bess" is a great opportunity for a string quartet to show off their expressive playing, and by working on the rubato together, they will be able to "breathe as one" and produce a moving performance.

There is some double-stopping in the inner parts, but some fingerings have been added where they might be useful. The 1st violin part does not go above 5th position, and the other parts do not go above 3rd or 4th. There is plenty in this arrangement to keep each player busy and interested, and there is a lovely counter-melody for the viola in the second half.
