Preparatory Level (beginner): Note names, half and whole steps, intervals to 5th by number, Major and minor five finger positions and chords, Major key signatures and scales, rhythms in 2/4, 3/4, 4/4. Keys of C, F, G, D Major.

Level I (beginner): All previous material plus intervals to 7th by number, Major and minor triads, I, IV, and V chords, rhythms including eighth notes.

Level II (advanced beginner): All previous material plus authentic, half, and plagal cadences, rhythms including 6/8. Keys of C, G, D, A, F, Bb Major, a minor.

Level III (early intermediate): All previous material plus all Major key signatures, a, e, and d natural and harmonic minor, Major and Perfect intervals, Major and minor triads and inversions, rhythm including 2/2 and triplets.

Level IV (intermediate): All previous material plus new keys of g, c, and b minor, minor intervals, diminished triads, iii and vi chords, Dominant 7th chord, rhythm including sixteenth patterns, transposition, four periods of music history.

Level V (intermediate): All previous material plus new key of F minor, chromatic scale, ii and viio chords, Dominant 7th chord, more music history.

Level VI (late intermediate): All previous material plus keys of f sharp and b flat minors, Augmented and diminished intervals, Augmented triads, Roman Numerals in harmonic minor, deceptive cadence, modulation, chord progressions.

Level VII (early advanced): All previous material including all Major and minor keys, Circle of Fifths, melodic minor scales, diminished 7th chords, Sonata Allegro form.

Level VIII (early advanced): All previous material plus whole tone scale, secondary dominants, homophonic and polyphonic textures, diatonic and chromatic half steps.

Level IX (advanced): All previous material plus triads within whole tone scale, Major, minor, and half diminished 7th chords, Fugue, Baroque Suite.

Level X (advanced): Traditional devices (passing tones, anticipations, etc.), Contemporary Period techniques, Augmented 6th chords, analysis of complete movements of Fugue, Sonata Allegro, Rondo, Theme and Variations, Twelve-Tone music.
