A collection of familiar folk melodies, such as "Aura Lee" and "The House of the Rising Sun," arranged in the baroque style, which prepares the student to perform the music of that period. I use this with my students as a prep to Bach's Two-part Inventions. I have yet to have a student who doesn't like it!

This is one of my all-time favorite books -- if you're familiar with various forms of Baroque music (Bach's Inventions, dance movements, etc.) you will find yourself laughing all the way through this book and recommending it to others. I often use Palmer's arrangement of "The Ash...

Grove" in performance settings, reserving "House of the Rising Sun" and others for days when I need a smile. My students also enjoy these settings. This book is a "must" for Baroque afficionados!
