About Bach and Before for Strings

Bach and Before for Strings, presented in the Kjos Total Option Scoring format, contains the same 19 chorales as Bach and Before for Band. Newly set in 'string-friendly' keys, the string book cannot be used in conjunction with the band book. However, the book does provide material that is easily tailored to all string ensembles. Because each part book includes all four voice parts (soprano, alto, tenor, and bass) there are unlimited opportunities to introduce unison playing to the string orchestra. Unison playing is the most efficient way to improve the overall quality of a string orchestra's sound, and is the foundation of playing in-tune. When a string orchestra plays in unison, it is playing in several octaves simultaneously, and in-tune octaves are the very basis of superior intonation!
