Having been the first person to actually transcribe and document the blues, W. C. Handy (1873 - 1958) earned the title "Father of the Blues." Aunt Hagar's Blues is his third composition and it has been recorded by everyone from Louis Armstrong to the GRP All Star Band. This arrangement uses the same lazy blues feel (quarter note = 80) of the original and includes written solos for trumpet or trombone. The music in this series may be performed with one alto saxophone, one tenor saxophone (optional alto 2), one trumpet, one trombone, piano, bass and drums. Each set includes parts for 2 alto saxophones, 2 alto sax 2 (optional substitute for tenor saxophone), 2 tenor saxophones, 1 baritone saxophone, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones, 2 flutes, 2 clarinets, 1 horn, guitar, piano, bass and drums. Each piece also comes with a CD featuring a full recording and a practice track for your soloists.
