The Ballseason of 1867 was particularly challenging to the Strauss brothers and theirorchestras due to the defeat the previous summer by the Prussian army andcancellation of that Ball season. Johann met the challenge with firstpresenting The Blue Danube and then three weeks later giving the Ballattendees its twin, Artist’s Life. This autobiographical piece startsslow, as if just waking up, but once the Waltzes start, it’s all fun.

Thisarrangement has four out of five of the original Waltzes with all the Waltzesand sections marked to make creating a shorter version easier. It has both apedal harp and lever harp version that is intended to be performed together. They only differ in the pedal/lever markings and an occasional harmony note. The dynamics are clearly marked.
