Mr. Rozman is a young Slovenian composer primarily working in film. Given that emphasis in his career and like all of his music, Aqua and Ventus--two distinct but related pieces for quartet--is incredibly atmospheric and creative. It's not as "programmatic" as many of his other works, but...

still has a clear narrative that is a big part of what makes this piece very successful. Both flutes 1 and 2 double piccolo and have fists full of notes, as you'd expect of a piece depicting water and wind. All parts are equally challenging. Very subtle and telling use of extended techniques and a fabulous use of color possibilities in flutes make these pieces extraordinary. Oh, and did I say they're incredibly fun to play?? There are excellent recordings on his YT channel. If your quartet is looking for something challenging, rewarding, and fresh for your audiences, Aqua and Ventus is an excellent choice.
