Andante and Finale Op. 79

By Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky

2 pianos/4 hands - Advanced
Composed by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840-1893). Sheet Music. Published by Belaieff Verlag (PE.BEL373).

Item Number: PE.BEL373

Reduction for 2 Pianos by the composer. The two movements of Tchaikovsky's Andante and Finale are extracts from a symphony which Tchaikovsky planned to write in 1892 and which he himself re-arranged for Piano and Orchestra. The manuscript formed part of Tchaikovsky's personal estate and was orchestrated by Sergei Taneiev. The premier took place under Taneiev on Feb 8 1896 during one of M. P. Belaieff's Russian Symphony Concerts.

This edition is missing some of Taneyev's filling out of the solo part, which appears in the old Paragon edition (now out of print). It is recommended to play the Concerto No. 3 prior to these two movements. Otherwise it's not so satisfying. The Andante has better music...

than the bustling Finale, in my opinion.
