An Easter Song of Praise

By A Steven Taranto

Unison/2-part choir and piano
Composed by A Steven Taranto. Sacred Anthem, Eastertide. Octavo. Published by Chorister's Guild (CG.CGA1115).

Item Number: CG.CGA1115

Based on a delightful 16th-century German folk song, this radiant Easter anthem with original new text by Steven Taranto rejoices in new life that comes in spring as well as the message of Christ's resurrection. Great for older children's choirs, the anthem provides an excellent opportunity for singing in canon and simple two-part harmony. Choristers will also enjoy the composer's notes that highlight several stanzas from the original German text along with an English translation.

The choral parts I would rate as advanced beginner, the piano accompaniment as intermediate. The kids learned the choral parts in about 3 practices. The tune was relatively easy for the kids to learn, and variations in the accompaniment added a nice contrast. It's too bad this piece is...

so Easter-specific, because this would be fun for the kids to sing at any service.
