  • October 14, 2008 A Great Collection or Trumpet Tunes

    There are many collections out there, and while this collection probably makes my 48th copy of the Purcell Tunes, it is worth the price for all the other gems in it. If you play an organ with a good trumpet stop, or have a good trumpeter, this would sit well...

    for you. No separate trumpet part, but he/she would have to read from the score. Works just as well for just organ. David Lasky, a really talented composer, has some great stuff in here, and for the price, you can't go wrong. There is a setting of the tune "Kingsfold" set as "Kingsfold Trumpet", which I found very handy as a prelude to playing this hymn. Some pieces are rather easy, but others require some serious work.
