Composed by Early American Melody. Arranged by Spike Maiden Müller. Concert,Contemporary,Folk,Sacred,Standards. 18 pages. Spike Maiden Mueller #6506555. Published by Spike Maiden Mueller (A0.850768).

The tune New Britain is typical of Appalachian tunes of the United States. It is basically pentatonic, using melodic figures which outline triads. It was first set to John Newton's autobiographical hymn, Amazing Grace, by William Walker in his 1835 publication Southern Harmony. It is possibly the most famous of American folk hymns.

It is here arranged for standard woodwind quintet, with a bass clarinet part included for ensembles lacking a bassoon. This was my very first woodwind quintet arrangement, and I still consider it the best I have ever done!
