Based upon a traditional hymn tune in the public domain, "Amazing Grace" is one of ten such original solo piano improvisations recorded and released in 2017 by Dan Chadburn on his album, Held in the Light. Three additional improvisations on the album are original compositions. Recorded at Piano Haven in Sedona, Arizona in June, 2017, the album was awarded "Solo Piano Christian Album of the Year" by SoloPiano.com.

In her review published at NewAgeCD.com, Dyan Garris wrote, "The love emanating from this album will stay in your soul long after the music stops playing. In my opinion, Dan Chadburn is one of the most important solo piano artists of our time. Held in the Light is outstanding and definitely not to be missed. Exceptionally beautiful solo piano."

Note that this improvisation based upon "Amazing Grace" is entirely different than the one recorded and released by Dan Chadburn on his album, Reflections, in 1999.
