This representative late-Renaissance, Franco-Flemish motet uses a steady quarter note motion, yet the individual lines are expressive and full of musical detail. It should be sung joyfully and with clear enunciation. The contrapuntal fluidity comes from di Lasso's innovative use of harmonic subtleties and expressive word painting. A singable English translation is provided in addition to the original Latin text.
