even though i knew that there were only excerpts from each song i would of atleast thought the backing track cd would of been okay, man was i wrong when it said actuall backing tracks to each song it never mentioned it repeats each part 4 times this book is...

basically for beginners who want to learn some instrumentals.(upside)the transcriptions are perfect.

I bought this book on the basis that the music would be there, not sh!t about modes. I know about modes, chordal strcuture, but I don't have the luxury of sitting home all day tabbing out solos and experimenting with whammy tricks etc. (which is why I bought...

this book! For the music!). I got his signature guitar as well(after 2yrs. working @ Maccas) Back to the book - all the cool sh!t has been chopped out by Vai and his producing company to make another 25 US bucks from chumps like me who thought you were charging an extra 2bucks for photos in the other Edition (which it seems i'm now gonna have to get) pffff, this book is a waste of time if you don't want to tab out most of the stuff yourself. I've been playing for about 3years (with about 15yrs. violin behind me), I got the surfing with the alian book @ the same time and it's cool, it's Perfect. This book is just to be used for kindling on fires.....I wish I had bought the other one :~(
