By Sandy Feldstein

This innovative method is a practical approach to playing the drumset. Students start their first lesson by actually playing a beat! The book is divided into two sections: Rock and Jazz. Good book to draw from

I use this book with my drum studnets in a way that jumps around a bit. The nice thing about the book is it has very usable beats and fills that are easy to teach. There are a lot of challenging indepenence exercises too. The drawback to the book is the reason I jump around pages. There doesn't seem to be a steady increase of difficulty from page to page. Later pages can be much easier than early pages in some cases. Overall, a good first book to have along with a snare book and a syncopation book. I use the combo of the 3 and it works well for me with new drummers.
