    American Songbook Nobility?

    No, America doesn't elevate our artists to any level of higher social station and we are way too free with the superstar or genius label for our pop entertainment celebs, but now and then the cream does rise to the top. Those great, beautifully crafted lyrics that bypass the brain filter and go right to your heart are usually crafted by this royal couple. They have found the secret that all serious lyricists look for, a way to turn simple story telling into a spiritual experience. Singers who perform their work are profoundly moved and project that rapport to their audience creating a tsunami of emotion that, when ended, leaves a wash of warm feeling in its wake.

    Alan & Marilyn Bertman Songbook

    This book has many of the songs that werewritten for Barbra Streisand. They are beautiful. I was disappointed with the physical book itself because it is bound and difficult to keep open but I wouldn't trade it for anything.
