This is a great book if you're looking for truly authentic African rhythms. Most of the pieces are designed to be performed with a speech chorus or singing chorus. All are written for true African instruments (talking drums, slit drums, etc.) The beginning of the book includes photos of...

the instruments (helpful!) as well as pronunciation guides for the words. I'd recommend this for students in middle or high school or that have a good amount of background in syncopated rhythms and triple meters.
