There is little music on the planet as gorgeous and powerful as Beethoven's beautiful piano sonata no. 8 op. 13, the Pathetique Sonata.  Here, I have arranged the second movement, the Adagio Cantabile, for a woodwind quartet consisting of flute, oboe, clarinet, and bassoon.  The simple melody passes through each instrument in turn, and the ensemble creates a backdrop of passion and drama behind the singing melody.  If you like this piece on piano, you will love the richness and depth the sororities of the woodwinds bring to the music.

Also available as a wind quintet.

Beethoven wrote so much beautiful music for other ensembles and solo piano, and it is nice to have a transcription of this beautiful music for woodwind quartet. I would also recommend the woodwind quintet version.

I love the melody of this piece, and setting it for woodwinds is a great idea! However, the repeated sixteenth notes that are in the original piano part are a bit tiring to play on a woodwind instrument. I like how the melody is passed from one instrument to another...

and not just in the upper voices all the time.
