    Llewellyn Marsh
    Difficulty Level:
  • February 10, 2002 Sondheim Scores with VOCAL SCORE

Nothing that Sondheim ever does is SIMPLE and it's the case with FORUM. Even though he had to cut out the most number of songs from any of his musicals, the songs themselves are interesting to learn and when you do, hard to forget. I played Hysterium 8 years...

ago and now might end up being MD of the show and I'm thrilled. The only shortcomings i would say is that unlike many re-releases of scores, it does not have LONGER versions of songs like THE HOUSE OF MARCUS LYCUS or cut songs like ECHO SONG and YOU'RE EYES are blue... like they have in the 1998 CABARET score release. But if you want straightforward Sondheim COMEDY songs, then FORUM is for you, from a befuddled father running after a maid, to a pompus Captain, to a canniving slaves... its a true ROMP and ROLL down the aisles of MUSICAL THEATRE.
