I am enjoying this book by Dr. Konowitz. I consider myself late elementary at the time of this review and i find the material quite playable. I think it's very important to read every word and pay attention to details and warm-up practices that preceed each piece. When i first looked at it, i felt a little overwhelmed because several concepts are introduced in the first etude and it seemed that there wasn't a lot of description. Listening to the audio a few times and trying the exercises and first few measures got me going and sounding jazzy within 5 to 10 minutes. This book has some fun sounds and I feel like I am picking up a lot quickly. The key to success with it is to thoroughly practice/understand intro material for each piece. I did some YouTube searches on Dr Konowitz and found some videos featuring him added to the understanding of what's being presented in this book. There are lots of sharps and flats and new chords, but nothing a late elem. student can't handle.
