Aesop's fables translated into Latin by the poet Phaedrus' inspired composer Jan Novak (1921-1984) to write a work, which is surprising in many respects. The composer managed, from a selection of six tales outlining the prologue and epilogue, to set the text of the parables to music without obscuring its contents in any way. The composer provided the work with three versions: the contents of this addition provide the version for choir, solo and piano.
