This edition is very instructive and helpful to play. Szeryng's interpretation is comprehensive and Kehr's comments open my eye to the structure of polyphony of Bach. It helps my understandings and interpretation and playing of this work.

I've used several other editions, and this is by far the most rewarding. I've long been an admirer of Szeryng, and studying the Bach using this edition provides a new dimension to appreciating his mastery. I find the fingerings and bowings and dynamic markings insightful and often brilliant, and worth studying even if you ultimately don't use them. They are also clearly marked as to what is in the original and what is Szeryng's, so you scarcely need an Urtext edition to accompany this one. Finally, Szeryng recorded these pieces several times, so you can listen to how Szeryng implements his own markings (or sometimes not). Extensive background and style suggestions in long essays by Szeryng and Gunter Kehr are interesting and helpful. Good quality paper, printing, and binding are icing on the musical cake. I'd call this edition essential for anyone studying these seminal works.

i preffered this edition because it was cheaper than the others and there was a huge discount on it at that time, but i've realized that it's also very good: explanations, fingerings, the ones that Szeryng suggested.. everything is perfect! go with that edition!
