The songs work well for woodwinds and have the same wonderful sounds band musicians have treasured in his English Folk Song Suite. Not only that, but if you have played his Six Studies in English Folk Song for clarinet and piano, one movement will sound very familiar!
The movements are: 1) The Dark Eyed Sailor 2) The Spring Time of the Year 3) Just as the Tide was Flowing 4) The Lover's Ghost 5) Wassail Song. The piece has 10 1/2 minutes of music and requires each part being able to play independently.
The parts and score are provided (Eb soprano, Bb soprano 1,2,3, Eb alto (with an alternate Bb 4 part), Bb bass, and Bb Contra/Eb Contralto.
