    Difficulty Level:
  • September 17, 2020 outdated

The books compiled by Joan Boynton all contain outdated songs, often Victorian church songs. You may find 4 or 5 good songs in any given book, but not worth the price. There are songs by other composers which are much better. The level is appropriate as stated. I'm a...

I rate all of Joan Boytim's books very highly and this one is no exception. This is an excellent collection of easy songs In English with only an octave range. I use it particularly for boys voices that are starting to change and girls who are learning not to...

I don't know what I would do without Joan Boytim's expert advice and suggestions for voice students. Keep up the good work. Voice teachers are interested in her knowledge.

  • November 04, 2008 Good Book for Voice Students!

I am currently using this book with my voice students. The songs are all in English, which makes some songs usually only found in foreign language books now accessible for beginners. I don't love all of the pieces in this book, as some of them seem a little too...

young even for a book for "young singers." A lot of the songs are really quite well done so the book is a worthwhile purchase. I also appreciate the accompaniment cd which allows my students with limited piano skills to still practice on their own without me having to record the accompaniment for them. All in all a good resource for a beginning voice student.
