This collection consists of three versions of each song, progressing in difficulty for the first, second, and third years of piano study, for a total of 90 arrangements.   By combining all three difficulty levels in one collection, it is possible to work from beginning to end, creating your own "crash course" in playing piano music.

ABOUT THIS BOOK

These are the arrangements I created for my piano students during the Christmas season. Over the years, I observed that for most students, there is not enough time between Thanksgiving and Christmas to learn big arrangements of new material, but,  if we build on the previous years' work, students can prepare impressive performances  even during a busy holiday season.

The premise of this collection is that if you know and love these songs, you will be able to use these songs to learn how to play piano music in general.  For many years, the songs in the first book have been learned, performed, and enjoyed by students who only started piano lessons 3 months earlier.  So, here's how to do it:

In Book One, play all the songs starting with the ones you know and love the most.  In all fairness, you’re not starting at exactly "zero".  You will need to know the names of the white keys on the piano, and number your fingers 1-5, thumb is one and little finger is five.  Hand Positions are always presented, and except for Middle C Position, they tell you the lowest note of the hand position:  LH (left hand) 5 or RH (right hand) 1.

"Middle C Position" (both thumbs on middle C) is the only hand position that does not indicate the lowest note.  Santa's picture means Middle C position, with no hand position changes, so these are the easiest.

In Book Two, the RH (right hand) progresses to playing complete melodies by itself, freeing the LH (left hand) to play TRIADS in root position for a solid accompaniment.  Triads are easily recognized three note chords (LH fingers 5  3  1) with the hand position note on the bottom (lowest note).

      In Book Three, the.
