SAMAN - accessible gentle piece for FLUTE & GUITARIntended for classical guitar, though sometimes it gets listed erroneously under electric guitar.Derek Hasted writes "Composed for piano in the key of 3 flats, this gentle piece has a timeless, ethereal sound.There are a handful of arrangements for guitar using a Capo to recreate the original key, but it’s hard to recreate the spacious, effortless sound and pedal sustain of the piano.My flute and guitar duet version places the piece in a different key, where the guitar breathes more easily, and adds a lot of depth to the flute part. The difficult guitar chords and stretches, the awkward sustains - they’ve all gone, and the result is an accessible duet that will delight audiences with its grace and smoothness.The flute part occasionally reaches top E (3 ledger lines up) and it’s important not to be shrill here, as the flute will carry over the guitar at even a modest volume.There are no dynamics, but somehow the piece seems to know how it needs to be played...I hope you enjoy playing this piece!"This is one of a large and growing range of accessible ensembles from experienced arranger Derek Hasted, and is supplied as full score and parts.
