The Minkin-Shemer Harpsichord Duet is made up of Marina Minkin and David Shemer. Marina is also a member of the PHOENIX Ensemble, the Spectrum Ensemble, and the Israel Contemporary Players, as well as a successful soloist. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music from Jerusalem Academy, Israel, and Masters and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from Boston University, USA. She currently resides in Israel, teaching harpsichord and Baroque music courses at Levinsky College School of Music Education, at the Israeli Conservatory, and at the Jezreel Valley Center for the Arts. She recently released a recording of Vittorio Rieti's harpsichord solo and chamber music. David Shemer is a harpsichordist, conductor, and teacher, and is a leading figure on the Israeli early music scene. After completing his studies at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, he specialized in Baroque performance practice in London, where he studied with Jill Severs and Trevor Pinnock. He is a Doctor of Musical Arts, a degree conferred on him by the University of New York at Stony Brook. Since 1982 David Shemer has been teaching harpsichord and early music at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. He is also the founder, musical director and conductor of the Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra. While both artists specialize in early music, this release is unique in that all of these pieces were written in the last forty years save for the Prokofiev which was penned in 1936.
